Layers = Two levels of the layers tools can be accessed. The large icon opens the master layer control panel where new layers can be created. The smaller icons and current layer display port allow quickly switching between layers when drawing. Key layer tools have instant access icons. It is critical to develop the habit to set the appropriate layer an object needs to reside on, then select the drawing tools.

Entity Snaps = Allow ends of line work to be accurately connected exactly where you are selecting. Two most common snaps: point and end snap. Master snaps to build drawing proficiency and ensure lines are properly drawn with closed ends. Time can be saved by not attempting to hover exactly over the end of a line, IMS Help: Using entity snaps

Point = A single point can be selected, labeled and annotated or have an image attached to it.

Line = Lines are commonly used as drawing aids. They cannot have a width so don't use them to draw.

Polyline = A polyline is the most common drawing tool used. It can have a width and color associated with it. Polylines can be in 2D or 3D. Sub selection of the polyline is the Spline is which is curved.

3 Point Arc = There are a number of ways to make arcs. The three point method is the most common.

Circle = Various methods are offered to create a circle.

Rectangle = A rectangle or square can be drawn on a plane.

Boundary Hatch = Hatching provides clarity in drawings to show different surfaces like pavement or grass.

Wipeout = Hiding line work with the hatching tool is used to see through areas that are stacked on top of each other.

Move = Re-positioning line work after copying it speeds up repetitive drawing areas.

Copy = Selection of object(s) and the use of the copy command allows for drawing a complex shape once and duplicating the line work (Parking Lines, Windows etc).

Rotate = Yep, Rotate your object.

Scale = Alter the size of an object. This is commonly used for imported objects to match its size to marked locations in the scene like axles for vehicles.

Quick Align = Allows for aligning an object to known locations in the scene. Often used to align a car symbol to tire locations documented in the scene.

Delete = Yep, Delete

Trim = Within this tool selection box location a number of different tools are located in the sub menu. Trim is used to cut lines.

Change Block Colors = Edit the colors of models.

Change Block Size = Resize the object in the x,y,z to best fit the cloud object being represented.

Text = Annotations to demonstrate location and show where an object is located.

Insert Block =

Symbol Librarian = Within the IMS library thousands of symbols can be searched for and placed in a drawing. Next to the search box is an empty text box, fill in the type of article, and "Search", results are presented in the third red box from the top. Select symbol and use "Insert"

Collada Import = Drawing models can be downloaded from the Google Collada warehouse.

Road Intersection Wizard = Intersections of various lane configurations and angles can rapidly be assembled.

Draw Orthogonal = Orthogonal means your line work will be draw at right angles respective to your UCS. Users frequently switched this on / off. The cursor can easily be rotated to match a plane that is not displayed perfectly vertical or horizontal in the modelspace view. Temp Activate = Shift Key or Toggle On / Off = F8

Wall = Wall tools can rapidly extend walls into a 2D drawing and allows for the placement of doors and windows in the walls. It is an important tool to learn when working with point cloud data to orientate your UCS and get line work and dimensions on the right plane.

Draw Order

Like layers in photoshop, objects can be stacked for visibility.

Preparing to produce deliverable printed diagrams that different view ports or small enlarged windows to show the scene bring great value to a single page diagram.
